Know before you go
- You need to furnish yellow fever vaccination certificates upon reaching Zanzibar, so make sure you have them on you upon reaching the country
- Tanzania offers Visa On Arrival to citizens of most countries including India, UK, and USA for a fee of USD50. You will be asked to fill a short form upon arrival, following which the visa is granted. It was a pretty seamless process for us and we were not asked for any supporting documentation.

- Arrive at Zanzibar International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Stone Town.
- After checking in, start your exploration of Stone Town, the historic heart of Zanzibar City. Visit landmarks like the House of Wonders, Old Fort, and Sultan’s Palace.
- Get lost in the narrow winding streets, browse local markets, and indulge in the vibrant atmosphere.
- In the evening, enjoy a delicious seafood dinner at a local restaurant.
- Take a guided spice tour to discover the aromatic spices and tropical fruits that Zanzibar is famous for. Visit spice plantations, learn about their cultivation, and enjoy a sensory experience.
- After the spice tour, head to one of the beautiful beaches in the northern part of Zanzibar, such as Nungwi or Kendwa.
- Spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach, swimming in the turquoise waters, and soaking up the sun.
- Enjoy a beachfront dinner and perhaps catch a traditional dance performance in the evening.
- Embark on a snorkeling trip to the renowned Mnemba Atoll, known for its vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life.
- Explore the underwater world, encountering colorful fish, turtles, and possibly dolphins.
- Enjoy a picnic lunch on a secluded beach and relax in the tranquil surroundings.
- Return to your hotel in the late afternoon and have a leisurely evening.
- Visit Jozani Forest, a protected area known for its indigenous red colobus monkeys. Take a guided walk through the forest, observing the monkeys and other wildlife.
- Afterward, head to the east coast of Zanzibar, where you’ll find pristine beaches with white sand and calm waters.
- Spend the rest of the day enjoying the beach, swimming, or engaging in water sports activities like kiteboarding or sailing.
- Enjoy a seafood dinner by the beach or at your hotel.
- Take a boat trip to Prison Island (Changuu Island), famous for its historical prison and giant tortoises. Explore the island, visit the tortoise sanctuary, and go snorkeling around the coral reefs.
- In the evening, embark on a romantic sunset dhow cruise along the coast. Relax on the traditional sailing boat, enjoy the stunning sunset views, and indulge in a delicious dinner on board.
- Return to Stone Town and spend the night exploring the city’s vibrant nightlife or relaxing at your hotel.
